Some states are reportedly ready for online gambling
There have been some horrendous contradictions in the legality of online gambling within The United States legal system. Some rulings have stated that specifically online casino gambling is legal. Despite this states within the US have been slow to provide licenses for would-be online casino operators. As a result there has been a general stalemate among businesses, and an uncertainty among players and would-be players. Around the world though, a growing sentiment seems to predict that some definite moves will be made by national governments.
Possibly as a result or possibly just as a part of the movement a number of states within The United States of America are creating and initiating plans to acknowledge and regulate online casino gambling. Among the most prominent of these is the state of New Jersey. The obvious reasons are to create revenue and to provide a safe and secure way for the state's residents to play.
One bill has reportedly already been introduced that will allow residents to gamble online at specific online casinos. Regulation within the bill includes specific locations that would be acceptable for casino servers. It also sites specific games, and, in general, allows for the offering of the games that are currently offered within casinos in the state.
Sports betting are also specified in the bill, and this may present the most problem. The activity has been singled out in the past as being illegal under Federal Laws that prohibit gambling over the “wires”.
It is reported though that even those that oppose the bill may have no problem with plans to create a regulatory Division of Internet Wagering under the Casino Control Commission. This new division would reportedly oversee the new industry by setting age limits and other restrictions for players and businesses.
The bill as it is sets a twenty-percent gross revenue tax on all online casino operators. Those businesses would also need to pay a fee of two-hundred thousand dollars and license renewal fees of one-hundred thousand dollars. In addition there would be a one-hundred thousand dollar a year charge that would be contributed to compulsive gambling research and treatment.
